Learning German
The University of Regensburg offers a wide range of courses for students who want to learn German or brush up on their German.
There are the following two options for exchange students:
- Learning German before the start of the lecture period - intensive language course
- Learning German parallel to the lecture period
Of course, both can be combined!
Learning German Before the Start of the Lecture Period - Intensive Language Course
Exchange students who would like to improve their German language skills before the start of the lecture period, in September or March, can take part in a preparatory intensive language course (ILC). Registration for the ILC takes place as part of the general online application for exchange students. The course is offered at levels A1 - B2.

Ur/ Julia Dragan Learning German during the Semester
For students who would like to improve their German language skills, the University of Regensburg offers a wide range of German courses during the semester. These courses are free of charge for exchange students and are offered at all language levels (A1 - C2).
Registration for the language courses takes place as part of the orientation for exchange students.
Online Courses of the Bavarian Virtual University
The Bavarian Virtual University (vhb) offers students enrolled at the UR free online language courses for which you can receive ECTS points. The courses in the Classic BVU programme may be of particular interest to students who find it difficult to integrate face-to-face courses at the University of Regensburg into their Timetable. Exchange students can obtain further information on course enrolment from the UR International Office during orientation.
