Starting your studies

In the period from April to October, when your studies begin, there are several milestones that could be important for you. We have summarised the most important ones for you here.

Enrolment phase

Winter semester: August/September
Summer semester: March/April

  • You may attend preparatory and bridging courses, e.g. language courses, maths courses
  • In some subjects there are preparatory courses, i.e. introductions to academic work

Introductory phase

Winter semester: Beginning of October
Summer semester: Beginning of April

  • You attend the Introductory Events for New Students and (subsequently) make your course registrations
  • The subjects organise orientation and introductory days
  • You create or receive your Timetable for the coming semester
  • You may still be able to enrol during an extended enrolment period

Start of lectures

Winter semester: Mid-October
Summer semester: Mid-April

  • You attend your first courses
  • Organisation of your study life
  • Access to the online portals
  • Purchase of study materials

“You have to go there!”

Introductory events for new students are held by all subjects at the beginning of the semester, which you should definitely attend. You will learn, for example, how to create your timetable.
Events

“Nothing works without them: NDS identifier and UR card”

With your NDS ID you can use all digital services of the University of Regensburg. Whether it's creating a study plan, registering for exams or using your student email address. Your UR card acts as a semester ticket.
