The University of Regensburg was founded in 1962, its foundation stone was laid in 1965 and the first building of the young university was completed in 1967 with the main building at Universit?tsstra?e 31. Since then, numerous faculty, library, research and administration buildings have been added. Most of the UR's facilities are located on a campus covering around 150 hectares, and the university also has other sites in Regensburg:

Old tax office - "AlFi"

The name "Altes Finanzamt" (old tax office) for the location at Landshuter Stra?e 4 refers to the history of the building: from 1914 to 2006, the Regensburg tax office was housed here in the "Rentamtsgeb?ude". Since 2007, the site has been home to the Centre for University and Academic Teaching (CUAT), the Ethics Committee and the Administration of the University Archives, among others.

At Bajuwarenstra?e 4, in the former Telekom building, you will find the premises of the Faculty of Informatics and Data Science of the UR, including a lecture halls, seminar rooms, CIP-Pools, lounges and work rooms. The distance between Bajuwarenstra?e 4 and the main campus is around 2.5 kilometres, and there is a direct bus connection between the two locations (line 11).

Haus der Begegnung”, Merchant's Vault

The “Haus der Begegnung” is a medieval patrician house dating back to 1250, located in the centre of Regensburg's historic old town and offering 14 flats for international guests of the UR. In the basement, in the so-called "Kaufmanns-Gew?lbe" (=merchant's vault), there are extensively renovated conference rooms that university members can use for individual events, conferences or workshops.

At Sedanstra?e 1, on the eastern edge of the historic city centre, the University of Regensburg has seminar rooms and offices. The “Zentrum Erinnerungskultur”, the Leibniz ScienceCampus Europe and America in the Modern World and the Graduate School "Pre-modern Metropolitansim" are all located here.
