Funding programs for science and research
The university's Executive Board and other institutions within and around the University of Regensburg support and promote researchers in a variety of ways.
Academic Research Sabbatical Programme
With theAcademic Research Sabbatical Program (ARSP), the University of Regensburg promotes the academic qualification of academics in the postdoctoral phase, in particular for positions as "temporary senior lecturer" with the aim of sustainably improving their chances of appointment.
The plan is to exempt temporary senior lecturers from teaching and from tasks relating to the organisation and administration of chairs for the duration of one semester. The freedom gained is to be used for further academic qualification and in particular to increase the chances of appointment, for example by concentrating on the qualification thesis(es), a research project, the completion of a major third-party funding application or an international research stay.
Incentive system for acquiring third-party funding
The financial incentive system for third-party funding at the University of Regensburg serves to motivate and support researchers to increase the acquisition of third-party funding for research projects at recognised funding institutions. It supports early-career researchers in setting up their own research groups.

Visiting Professorships Program
The Bavarian State Ministry of Education, Science and the Arts provides the university with funding to attract international visiting professors. The aim of the funding programme is to attract academics from abroad for a limited period of time in order to promote internationality in teaching.
Reduction in teaching load
Reduction in teaching load
The granting of a reduction in teaching duties is largely based on the lecturer's performance in research and teaching. A reduction in teaching load is granted in particular in the case of special commitment to enabling research and the acquisition of third-party funds that contribute to the national and international visibility of the University, the preparation and publication of a major relevant academic work with a significant international visibility or the preparation and establishment of a profile-forming degree program for the University of Regensburg.
