Before Arrival

1. Register with the UR Welcome Center

In order to use free services provided by the Welcome Center, you should contact us 3-6- months in advance. We will then send you the link to our registration form.

Write to : info.welcome-center(at)ur.de (opens your email program)

After registering you will receive information on the requested topics and we will support you in preparing your stay in Regensburg.

2. Accommodation

Finding accommodation takes time - therefore best start looking for suitable accommodation several months before your actual arrival. You can find more information on our website in the "Accommodation" section. Click here for further information.

3. Visa

Please consult the German Federal Foreign Office website and check whether you need to apply for a visa in order to travel to Germany. If yes, please enquire with the proper German Consulate/Embassy about specific visa requirements for your home country and which documents you need to prepare. This should best happen some month prior to your research stay.

Click here for more information about visas.

4. Health Insurance

Please be aware that you (and your family members coming with you) must have sufficient health insurance for the entirety of your stay.

As your health insurance is tightly bound to the financing of your stay, please see the page “Financing & Insuracnes” for further information. Click here.

5. Coming with Family

If you are travelling with your family, you must arrange  a visa for your partner and children in good time. The same is valid for childcare. You can find more information on this on our website under "Coming with family". Click here.
