Who can help me during the first few days in Regensburg?

Startklar Orientation for new students

The program is free of charge and is aimed at all international students who are starting their German course or degree program at the UR.
You will receive help with all the formalities you need to complete and the basics for organising your schedule independently. Guided tours of the university and the city will also help you with your orientation at the start of studies.

Registration

Registration for the course takes place automatically after self-enrolment in the Startklar course on GRIPS.

To access GRIPS, you will need

  • either your UR account (also called NDS or RZ account), which you will receive after completing all enrolment formalities.
  • or you can apply for a guest account for GRIPS as long as you have not yet completed your enrolment.

Applying for a guest account

Activation code: available here from March 15, 2026

You only need this code once when applying for the account, then log in to GRIPS with your e-mail address.

Plan and weekly schedule

The "Startklar" orientation program takes place online via the GRIPS e-learning platform. The content of the GRIPS course is offered in German and English.

Face-to-face events are held in the week before the lectures begin: Worshops, familiarisation meetings, guided tours and more.

Admitted applicants for the preparatory German courses can take a placement test to update their language level before enrolment.
