Housing
Accommodation in Regensburg
If you are studying in Regensburg, you will also need accommodation. Unlike many other countries/cities, accommodation is not automatically provided on the university campus in Regensburg. Most dormitories are located throughout the city. Since you are responsible for finding your own accommodation, you can also look for a private flat. Your options are explained in more detail below.
Information on Housing Options
Private Accommodation
You can find rooms in private shared flats or from private landlords on notice boards (in cafeterias, student associations or the student building) and in newspaper advertisements or on the internet and social media.
Dormitories
In Regensburg, there are dormitories run by the student services organisation (Studierendenwerk) and dormitories run by private landlords.
This type of accommodation always requires proof of enrolment.
The university itself does not have any dormitories for students.
Short-term Accommodation
Depending on your arrival time, you may not be able to move into your flat immediately and may have to spend a few days in a hotel or youth hostel. For short stays of one to two months, a holiday flat is often the best solution.

You cannot rely on the International Office to allocate you a room in a student dormitory! The International Office only has a limited number of rooms available in individual dormitories. Therefore, you must take the initiative to find accommodation in Regensburg yourself.
The International Office will be happy to help you with address lists and useful tips for finding accommodation.
Students who are interested in a room in a dormitory can fill out the International Office's dormitory application form or contact the respective dormitories directly and apply there. Please note that enrolment is a mandatory requirement for applying for a dormitory room.
