Many questions arise when deciding on a specific subject at a particular university. It is very important that you inform yourself well in advance, both about
- the subject you want to study and the university as well as
- the current admission requirements for your degree programme.
As a prospective student affected by an impairment, you should also be able to answer the following questions before making a concrete application:
- Are the performance requirements in the subject I am aiming to study (if necessary with the use of appropriate compensation for disadvantages) basically compatible with my chronic illness or disability?
- Is the university I have chosen at all suitable for me due to technical and structural conditions and if not, is it possible to modify these to such an extent that successful study is still possible in my particular case?
- How good are my chances of getting a job in my chosen field in the long term after successfully completing my degree?
Once these questions have been satisfactorily answered, the question of admission requirements also arises.
A basic distinction is made between
- open Admission subjects and
- subjectswith admission restrictions .
Subjects with restricted admission are in turn subdivided into
- Subjects with internal university admission restrictions and in
- subjects with nationwide admission restrictions, in which the available study places are allocated by the Foundation for University Admissions.
In addition, so-called aptitude tests are carried out at the University of Regensburg in some Open Admission subjects. Here you must prove your personal aptitude or talent for the desired subject in order to obtain a place. The application is always made directly to the respective institute.
