DFG extended CRCs at the University of Regensburg
On November 20, the German Research Association / Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) extended three Collaborative Research Centers at the University of Regensburg:
- CRC/Transregio 325, 'Assembly-Controlled Chemical Photocatalysis', with Prof. Burkhard K?nig as spokesperson and the UR as the applicant university and the TU Munich as the co-applicant university.
- CRC 1277 'Emergent Relativistic Effects in Condensed Matter: From Fundamental Aspects to Electronic Functionality', spokesperson Prof. Jaroslav Fabian, applicant university UR;
- CRC/Transregio 221 'Modulation of Graft-Versus-Host and Graft-Versus-Leukemia Immune Responses After Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplantation', spokesperson Prof. Wolfgang Herr, applicant university UR, co-applicant universities FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg and JMU W¨¹rzburg.
ERC Synergy Grant for Burkhard K?nig
The European Research Council (ERC) is funding Professor Burkhard K?nig's INSIGHT project through an ERC Synergy Grant. INSIGHT is a collaborative project coordinated by the University of Regensburg.
K?nig is conducting INSIGHT research in collaboration with Jana Roithov¨¢, an analytical chemist at Radboud University in Nijmegen, Netherlands, and Markus Reiher, a theoretical chemist at ETH Zurich.
"Catalysis offers great potential for meeting the urgent need for efficient and sustainable resource conversion," explains K?nig. However, current methods of discovery and optimization are too slow to keep pace with global demands," K?nig explains.
The goal of INSIGHT is to significantly accelerate this process.
