As part of a DFN-wide public key infrastructure(DFN-PKI (external link, opens in a new window)), the University of Regensburg has had its own certification authority since May 2008; certificates have been issued by Sectigo since 2021. In addition to user and server certificates, grid certificates can also be requested.
Please note that the DFN-PKI can only issue certificates for domains of the University of Regensburg that have been procured via the DFN. No wildcard certificates or certificates for IP addresses are issued.

User certificates
You can sign and encrypt your emails with user certificates. You can create your user certificate for your e-mail address via the service portal.
Server certificates
Certificates are required for the secure connection to servers (SSL).
Grid certificates
Grid projects often require certificates when accessing supercomputers or databases.
