On Thursday, August 14, 2025, the Welcome Center organized a scenic nature walk from Etterzhausen to Prüfening for international researchers and Ph.D. students. The group met at 4:45 p.m. in front of the main train station in Regensburg (Hauptbahnhof) and took a short train ride to Etterzhausen, the starting point.
The five-kilometer hike offered a peaceful and refreshing break from daily routines. At a relaxed pace, the group walked along gentle paths beside the Danube and through serene woodlands, taking in the beauty of the late summer landscape. The route took about an hour and a half to complete, providing plenty of time for informal conversations and shared moments along the way.
The walk ended at the traditional Goldener Hirsch beer garden in Prüfening, where participants could relax with local food and drinks (at their own expense). The cozy atmosphere of the beer garden provided the perfect backdrop for relaxed discussions and new connections among researchers.
Overall, this trip provided a wonderful opportunity to get to know fellow researchers in an informal and enjoyable environment by combining light physical activity, natural scenery, and social interaction. The limited number of participants contributed to a more personal and friendly group experience.
