Intelligent Communication Agents
In this subject area, the chair of Business Informatics 3 is researching so-called "Augmentative and Alternative Communication" (AAC) systems. Digital AAC systems have been developed to enable persons with speech impairments to communicate using spoken language. They enable the translation of a person's intended expressions into speech and subsequent speech output. In this context, we are investigating how (generative) AI-based approaches can be used in AAC systems to improve the participation of speech-impaired people in everyday conversations.
As part of the chair's research, we are investigating chatbots as a second form of intelligent communication agent, as well. The topics to be researched can be found in both business and society application areas.

Business Processes and IT Architectures
With regard to the topics of business process management and IT architectures , the chair of Business Informatics 3 deals with the holistic design, analysis and further development of operational structures. We focus on methodological and conceptual approaches to modelling, analysing, automating and controlling business processes. In addition, quality management contributes to the sustainable safeguarding and continuous improvement of processes at an organisational level.
Enterprise Architecture Management covers the strategic alignment and targeted further development of complex IT and process landscapes. The focus here is on the integration of business processes, the capabilities of the task owners and the underlying IT systems.

Social Media and Social Media Analytics
Social media offers customers a powerful platform to openly and effectively share their requirements, expectations, opinions and wishes regarding products, services or the company. The systematic recording and understanding of this VoC (Voice of Customer) is crucial for companies in order to tailor their range of services to the needs of both existing and potential customer groups.
In view of the above, at the chair of Business Informatics 3, we are further developing existing social media analytics approaches, including those based on aspect-based sentiment analysis and topic modelling. We transfer these concepts into practical software solutions and evaluate them together with partners from industry in specific application scenarios. This way, we create a link between research and practice and make an active contribution to customer-centred digital transformation.
