Erlangen, September 19–20, 2025 – The PKD Patient Days in Erlangen, initiated by the PKD Famili?re Zystennieren e.V. association, were a great success. On September 20, around 80 participants gathered at the Translational Research Center (TRC) Erlangen to learn about and discuss current topics related to autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD).
The event was hosted by Prof. Bj?rn Buchholz (Medical Director and Project Leader of Project A2 of TRR374) from the Institute of Physiology at the University of Regensburg and PD Dr. Andre Kraus from Medical Clinic 4 at Erlangen University Hospital, who was responsible for the on-site organization. The varied program offered exciting presentations on topics such as genetics, high blood pressure, mental health, dialysis, transplantation, and research.
Of particular interest were the latest research findings from the TRR374 research network, which provided new insights into the mechanisms of cyst growth and possible therapeutic approaches to ADPKD.
Following the lectures, participants had the opportunity to visit research laboratories and talk directly with the scientists. Numerous questions and lively discussions demonstrated the great commitment and interest of the participants.
The PKD Patient Days in Erlangen were considered by all participants to be a great success.
