We support researchers with time-consuming family obligations (parental leave, caring for relatives with a care degree) and researchers who can only work to a limited extent due to pregnancy / breastfeeding by funding the following measures from the TRR?s equal opportunities fund:

  • Support and relief staff for scientists who are unable to work full-time due to time-consuming family commitments (during parental leave or caring periods):
The scientists concerned can be supported by a technician or by a student or research assistant. As a rule, a 0.5 position for up to 6 months or a full-time position for up to 3 months can be financed from the equal opportunities funds. If required, please contact the equal opportunities officer at TRR374.
  • Support and relief staff for female scientists who are unable to carry out certain work due to pregnancy / breastfeeding can be supported by relief staff, usually a student or research assistant. If required, please contact the equal opportunities officer at TRR374.
  • Technical equipment for home office / mobile working:
For academics with family commitments, working from home can be useful to improve the coordination of academic and family work (childcare or caring for relatives with care needs). The necessary technical equipment, such as laptops or docking stations, can be financed from the equal opportunities funds, provided that the workplace of the person concerned has appropriate regulations for working from home/mobile working.
  • Financing of care measures for children up to the age of 14 and for relatives in need of care:
Care needs arising, for example, in connection with participation in advanced training courses, TRR-specific events, or necessary business trips can be financed by the equal opportunities funds under the following conditions:
    1) the parents/family members of persons in need of care are not available to provide care for project-specific reasons
    2) the care goes beyond the usual local basic care (e.g. because it is provided at the weekend or after the facility's usual closing time)
    3) (child-) care cannot be financed in any other way
  • Ensuring the availability of daycare places:
Via the F3G consortium, the TRR 374 participates in the financing of childcare places, provided that a TRR-specific need can be demonstrated.

You can also receive support in the form of counselling, childcare and holiday care, as well as assistance with caring for relatives, from the Family Service of the respective university (information on the services can be found via the links in the list on the right-hand side).
