Prof Dr Stefan Canzar studied computer science in Munich and then worked at the Max Planck Institute for Computer Science, Department of Algorithms and Complexity. He received his binational doctorate in computer scientists from Saarland University (Germany) and the Université Henri Poincaré (France). After his postdoctoral phase at the Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica (Amsterdam) and the Johns Hopkins Institute of Genetic Medicine (Baltimore), he was a Research Assistant Professor at the Toyota Technological Institute in Chicago from 2014. From 2016, he led an independent research group at the LMU Munich Gene Centre until he moved to Penn State University as Associate Professor in 2023. Since October 2023, he has held the Chair of Algorithmic Bioinformatics at the University of Regensburg.
