Francisca Canzar MD, PhD

Dr Francisca Canzar graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the Universidad de Chile in Santiago, Chile, in 2009. After completing her residency in Medical Genetics at the University Hospital of the Universidad de Chile in 2013, she moved to the United States and began doctoral studies in Human Genetics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Her doctoral research in the laboratory of Dr Hongjun Song focused on post-transcriptional regulation of embryonic neurogenesis with a focus on genomics and bioinformatics. In 2019, she joined the lab of Stefan Canzar at the Gene Centre of Ludwig-Maximilians-University as a postdoctoral fellow until she accepted a position as Research Assistant Professor at Penn State University in 2023. Since 2024, Dr Canzar has been conducting research together with Prof Dr Stefan Canzar at the University of Regensburg.
