Bachelor
What are the differences between the bachelor's degree programs in business administration, digital business, economics, and business informatics?
The degree programs cover various sub-disciplines of economics. The degree program finder allows you to compare the degree programs in terms of their specific features, content, and structure.
Is it possible to transfer from another university to the University of Regensburg to study for a bachelor's degree in economics during your studies, i.e., at a higher level than the first semester? And what needs to be considered in this case?
In principle, changing universities during your bachelor's degree is not recommended. However, if you still wish to transfer to the University of Regensburg, please note the following:
You must apply to the Student Office (external link, opens in a new window) for a place in a higher semester and be admitted. If you are admitted, you will first be enrolled in the first semester and then, after any previous academic achievements have been recognized, you will be placed in a higher semester.
The legal basis for the recognition of academic achievements is §12 of the examination regulations. (external link, opens in a new window) Courses from other universities can only be recognized if they are deemed equivalent to courses at Regensburg University. Courses from other universities are equivalent if the duration of study, academic achievements, and examination requirements are equivalent in terms of content, scope, and requirements. The examination board decides on this equivalence. In doing so, the examination board is guided by the vote of the professor responsible for the respective course. It is best to clarify with them in advance whether they will recognize your courses. If this is the case, submit a written application for recognition of external examination achievements to the Examination Office. The application for recognition of external examination achievements can only be submitted once you are enrolled in the respective bachelor's or master's program at the University of Regensburg.
Please also note the basic and orientation examination (see PO §16 (1) and (2))! If you have had courses from other universities recognized, you may be upgraded by one or more subject semesters. The examination regulations require that after two semesters, 36 ECTS credits must have been earned from the quantitative basics and the respective undergraduate basic module groups!
Master
Is the TOEFL or GMAT required for applying to a master's program?
Answer TOEFL/GMAT
No, TOEFL and GMAT are not required. The admission requirements are regulated in the examination regulations and are essentially based on the grade of your first professional qualification and the knowledge acquired there, as evidenced by credit points.
A summary of the admission criteria for the degree programs can also be found on the respective degree program pages of the degree program finder.
I have applied for a master's degree program. When will I find out if I am eligible?
A selection committee will review whether applicants meet the admission criteria after the application deadline. This review usually takes one to two months after the application deadline. You will then be informed of the result by mail.
The faculty cannot provide any information regarding the suitability of an application before the selection committee has completed its review. Therefore, please refrain from making any inquiries in this regard.
At the time of application, I am still missing credit points to qualify for the master's program. Can I make these up?
Answer making up missing ECTS credits
As a general rule, all required credits must be verified in the form of grades at the time of application. If you are unable to obtain all the required ECTS credits during your bachelor's degree program, external credits will also be accepted.
Can I improve my chances of admission through relevant internships or professional experience?
Answer Internships as an admission requirement
No, only your academic achievements from your completed bachelor's degree are relevant when assessing the admission requirements.
Can I take master's courses early and enroll in them while I am still studying for my bachelor's degree?
Students at the University of Regensburg who have already achieved 150 CP or more in their bachelor's degree program can take course examinations in the master's program totaling up to 24 CP before completing their bachelor's degree.
The purpose of this regulation is to avoid a possible idle period in the final phase of the bachelor's program and thus an unnecessary extension of the total duration of study. The exams taken in advance can then be credited later, after the students in question have been admitted to a master's program, as credits in this master's program within the framework of the conditions applicable to it.
What requirements must applicants meet for admission to a master's program?
The binding wording can be found in the examination regulations (§ 3 and § 4).
A summary of the admission criteria for the degree programs can also be found on the respective degree program pages of the study program finder.
If necessary, you may be required to pass certain course examinations from the Regensburg Bachelor's degree program.
International students are required to provide proof of sufficient German language skills. This is not required for the M.Sc. Economics program (only A1 level).
A selection committee will review the fulfillment of the admission criteria after the application deadline. The faculty cannot provide any information regarding the suitability of an application before or during the application period. Therefore, please refrain from making any inquiries in this regard.
