When do the examinations take place in the current semester and where do I register for them?

However, some examinations are sometimes brought forward by the chairs. Information on examination dates and registration can be found here.

How does the transfer of credits from a previous degree programme work?

Answer What is the procedure for transferring credits from a previous degree programme?

The legal basis for the recognition of academic achievements is §12 of the Examination Regulations (external link, opens in a new window). Recognition of courses from other universities is only possible if equivalence to Regensburg courses is established. Courses from other universities are equivalent if the content, scope and requirements of the study periods, coursework and examinations are equivalent. The examination board decides on this equivalence. The examination board is guided by the vote of the professor responsible for the course in question. It is best to clarify with them in advance whether they recognise your courses. If this is the case, submit a written application for recognition of external examinations to the Examinations Office. The application for recognition of external examinations can only be submitted if you are enrolled in the respective Bachelor's or Master's degree programme at the University of Regensburg.

  • Suspension of the counting of study semesters
  • Extension of the processing time or submission deadline for examinations or assignments
  • Needs-based adaptation of the circumstances or form of examination performance

Which section does the hardship case concern?

Which section does the hardship case concern?

Special hardship treatment always affects the future study situation. Events that occurred in the past and in another degree programme are not taken into account. For example, if there was a case of hardship during the school years, then this must also be taken into account during the school years. If the case of hardship persists after the school period and during the study period, it must also be taken into account during the study programme.

Bachelor's degree

Can I bring forward and take Master's courses during my Bachelor's degree programme?

Students at the University of Regensburg who have already achieved 150 CP or more in their Bachelor's degree programme can take course examinations in the Master's programme totalling up to 24 CP before completing their Bachelor's degree programme.

The purpose of this regulation is to avoid a possible idle period in the final phase of the Bachelor's programme and thus an unnecessary extension of the overall study period. The examinations taken in advance can then be credited later, after the students concerned have been admitted to a Master's degree programme, as credits in this Master's degree programme within the framework of the conditions applicable to it.

Can I bring in the grades from early Master's examinations in the Bachelor's degree programme?

The transfer of credits from the Master's degree programme to the Bachelor's degree programme is only permitted with very strict restrictions. For example, courses from a compulsory module or courses that are a compulsory part of a Master's specialisation module may not be transferred. In general, the approval of the examination boards is required for the transfer.

Do I have to have passed a minimum number of examinations by a certain semester?

Basic and orientation examination (GOP)

There is a basic and orientation examination so that you can quickly find out whether you have made the right choice of degree programme. this examination consists of 6 modules with a total of 36 credit points (CP).

  • You must pass the basic and orientation examination after the 2nd semester.
  • If the modules of the basic and orientation examination have not been passed by the end of the second semester, the basic and orientation examination is failed for the first time.
  • It can be repeated once until the end of the following semester. If the modules of the basic and orientation examination have not been passed by the end of the following semester, the basic and orientation examination has been definitively failed.
  • If the basic and orientation examination has been definitively failed, this also prevents the student from studying another degree programme regulated in the same Examination Regulations.

The deadline for completing the basic and orientation examination is not interrupted by a change of degree programme, further information can be found here(external link, opens in a new window) (external link, opens in a new window).

The modules to be completed for the basic and orientation examination vary from degree programme to degree programme. A total of 36 ECTS must be completed:

  • Business Administration: the module groups "Quantitative Fundamentals" and "Fundamentals of Business Administration"
  • BEP: the module groups "Fundamentals of Business", "Fundamentals of Economics", "Quantitative Fundamentals", "Fundamentals of Social and Business Psychology"

  • IMMO: from the module groups "Quantitative Fundamentals" and "Fundamentals of Economics" or "Fundamentals of Business Administration"
  • VWL/iVWL: from the module groups "Quantitative Fundamentals" and "Fundamentals of Economics"

Are BVU courses permitted in the elective module group?

bVU courses in the elective courses in the Bachelor's programme

The BVU is the joint virtual campus of the Bavarian universities, universities of applied sciences and art colleges. Courses from the BVU programme are therefore offered by a Bavarian university. Consequently, when crediting BVU courses in the elective courses in, exactly as many ECTS credits are possible as courses from other universities.

I submitted my bachelor's thesis at the end of the semester, the grading will take place in the following semester, do I have to re-register?

Is it necessary to re-register if a grade has not yet been entered?

Important first: You must also be enrolled for repeat examinations.
However, enrolment is only necessary until the work has been completed, i.e. the deadline for submitting the thesis (and not the registration or correction) counts.

Master

How many Bachelor's courses from the study abroad programme can I have credited to my Master's degree?

According to §15 (6) of the current Examination Regulations, a maximum of 18 credit points (BWL, VWL) or 12 credit points (WI, IMMO) can be taken in the elective module with Bachelor courses (only those that have not already been taken in the Bachelor after individual approval by the responsible professor). This regulation applies to Bachelor's courses at the University of Regensburg and is intended to prevent too many courses from the Bachelor's programmes being taken in the Master's programme. It is generally advisable to clarify the creditability of the courses with a Regensburg university lecturer from the respective institute before studying abroad. Accordingly, it is also possible to take upper-level Bachelor's courses abroad during the Bachelor's programme, but then not include them in the Bachelor's programme in order to import them later in the Master's programme as an elective module.
