Student Advisory Service

We can offer you help with questions regarding your studies. Depending on what you need there are three types of counseling.

For questions regarding the organization of your studies go to degree program coordination. For content-related topics you should ask the academic counseling. If you need a confirmation of your progress of studies see the federal training assistance.

We offer in-person office hours in PT 3.2.62 (times see below). There is no need to make an appointment in advance. Office hours in winter semester 2024/25, including February and March:

  • Monday, 10.00 a.m.-12.30 p.m. --> no office hours on February 24 and March 3.
  • Wednesday, 10.00 a.m.-12.00 p.m. --> office hours on March 5 from 10.00-11.00 a.m.
  • Thursday, 12.30 p.m.-14.00 p.m.

We can give you advice on questions regarding the organization of your studies, such as:

  • Organization of your studies (Which courses are obligatory in my study program? When should I take them? What are the prerequisites?)
  • Application process for prospective Master's students
  • Course registration on SPUR and FlexNow
  • Organizational advice regarding the transfer of credits earned at other universities

Reviewers who may confirm your progress of studies (Eignungsgutachter*innen) at the Department of English and American Studies:

Please present a current transcript of academic records, which you can download yourself from FlexNow, citing your attended courses and documenting your hitherto achieved credit points, for the verification during office hours and bring the form to be signed.
