Jürgen Jerger, born in 1965, studied economics at the University of Freiburg and the London School of Economics. He received his Ph.D. in 1993 on a topic in the field of employment theory and his habilitation in 1998 on issues of the interdependence of wage and demand policy. This was followed by temporary professorships at the Universities of Giessen and Erlangen-Nuremberg and a research stay at the German American Center for Visiting Scholars in Washington, D.C. as a Heisenberg Fellow of the German Research Foundation. From 2001, he taught at the University of Duisburg. He received calls to the universities of Mainz (declined) and Regensburg in 2002. He has been working at the University of Regensburg since October 2002. From 2007 to 2017, Jürgen Jerger also served as director of the Leibniz Institute for East and Southeast European Studies in Regensburg (until the end of 2011: Institute for Eastern European Studies). In 2012 and 2013, he also served as Vice-Rector of the University of Regensburg with responsibility for international affairs, public relations, and fundraising. In addition to his chairmanship, he is also a long-standing member of the board of directors of the Europaeum at the University of Regensburg, currently serving as deputy spokesperson. He is also a member of numerous professional associations, including the Committee for Economic Policy and the Committee for Economic Systems and Institutional Economics of the Verein für Socialpolitik (German Economic Association). Since 2012, he has held various positions as a member of the Executive Board of the European Association for Comparative Economic Studies (EACES).
