Dear first-year students,
in the winter semester you will start your teacher training programme in Biology. Here you will find the most important information to help you get started on your biology degree programme.
At the beginning of your studies, the Biology student council (for) organises two introductory days at the start of studies and a "Ersti weekend" where you can get to know other students. You can see the current programme here. (external link, opens in a new window)
You are not only studying biology and another teaching subject (or didactic subjects), but also education and various school internships. You can find important information on this in the
general introduction to teacher training programs. You can see the programme here. (external link, opens in a new window)
If you would like to find out in advance how your biology teaching degree programme is structured, this video (external link, opens in a new window) will help you: you will also learn what a "module" actually is, how to find the courses described in the modules in the course catalog and how to register for them.
This page (external link, opens in a new window) summarises a lot of important information for your biology degree course: Among other things, you will find
- a suggestion for your timetable in the first and all subsequent semesters (for LA Gymnasium, the timetables also include chemistry and physicists' courses, as there is little variation in these subject combinations. English as a combined subject offers more freedom. If you combine Biology with English, you are more flexible in your choice of English courses and can group them around the "immovable" Biology courses).
- a suggested curriculum, i.e. an overview of all biology and biology teaching courses and in which semester you can take them.
- Your module catalogue.
