Support of young female scientists

Trust Yourself

In order to support female scientists in the development and advancement of their academic careers, we will support young female scientists through the following main measures:

  • Encourage and support participation in existing local mentoring programs, qualification courses, soft skill courses and career seminars; costs will be reimbursed if not funded by local programs (e.g.?
  • Support participation in events to expand regional/national/international networks of female academics, for example by participating in conferences and congresses for female academics.
  • Encourage and support participation of additional conference visits with the aim of establishing further beneficial collaborations or qualifications for the academic career and increasing the visibility of the female researcher. These conference visits must go beyond the conference visits already planned in the project or those that are usual and necessary in the field.
  • Support of additional professional training, for example to acquire further subject-related theoretical and practical knowledge. These further training courses must go beyond the further training courses already planned in the project or those that are customary and necessary in the field.
  • Organization of coaching and workshops in collaboration with the F3G network with the aim of raising awareness and sensitivity to diversity (for all scientists), as well as coaching to promote the careers of young female scientists. Further information can be downladed here.

  • Active recruitment of excellent female scientists (MD or PhD, e.g. after a postdoctoral period abroad) who are engaged in renal research and are trying to form their own group. The candidates receive local financial support. This support is intended to facilitate integration into the CRC and the application for external research fellowships (depending on the individual phase of the researcher's career, e.g. first DFG proposal, DFG Emmy Noether or Heisenberg program). All TRR members can nominate suitable candidates.
