A central line of research in our group involves the development and application of ultrafast transmission electron microscopy (UTEM). In UTEM, the continuous electron beam of a transmission electron microscope is replaced by a train of femtosecond electron pulses, generated by photoemission from flat or tip-shaped emitters. Synchronizing such a stroboscopic electron illumination with a pulsed excitation, allows for a mapping or imaging of ultrafast dynamics with nanoscale spatial and femtosecond temporal resolution.? | ? |
