The American Physical Society (APS) has invited Dr. Paulo E. Faria Junior, Research Associate in our group, for an Invited Talk at the upcoming APS March Meeting in Minneapolis (March 2024). The talk will cover the theoretical developments of the valley Zeeman effect that elucidate and predict elusive physical phenomena in 2D van-der-Waals systems. The abstract can be found here. |
Our collaborator Dr. Nicola Paradiso from the Strunk Group in Regensburg will be awarded the Walter-Schottky-Prize 2024 at the upcoming DPG Spring Meeting in Berlin for "his outstanding works on the Josephson [supercurrent] diode effect that will open new perspectives for superconducting quantum electronics". The theory support for Dr. Paradiso's groundbreaking experimental studies has been provided by Dr. Andreas Costa, PostDoc in our group, and Dr. Denis Kochan (Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava). Congratulations, Nicola! |
The Low-Temperature Division of the German Physical Society (DPG) has invited Dr. Andreas Costa, PostDoc in our group, to present our latest results on transport through superconducting junctions in an Invited Talk at the upcoming DPG Spring Meeting in Berlin (March 2024). The talk will also partly cover our theoretical efforts to characterize the novel Josephson supercurrent diode effect in collaboration with the Strunk Group in Regensburg. The abstract can be found here. |
In an international collaboration, we are studying the impact of proximity effects on optical and exciton properties in MoSe2/CrSBr van-der-Waals heterostructures. Our latest results have been published in Nano Letters. |
Yaroslav Zhumagulov, Ph.D. student in our group, successfully defended his Ph.D. Thesis entitled "Theoretical investigation of the interplay of proximity-induced spin interactions and correlated phenomena in multilayer graphene systems". Congratulations, Yaroslav! |
In collaboration with colleagues from TU Berlin and Brazil, we are characterizing interlayer excitons in twisted WSe2/WSe2/MoSe2 transition-metal dichalcogenide (TMDC) heterotrilayers. Our latest results have been published in the preprint arXiv:2311.02509. |
In collaboration with colleagues from UK and US research institutions, we are exploring the twist- and gate-dependencies of proximity-induced spin-orbit coupling, spin relaxation, and charge-to-spin conversion in graphene/TMDC heterostructures. Our latest results have been published in the preprint arXiv:2310.17907. |
In collaboration with colleagues from RWTH Aachen and Forschungszentrum Jülich, we are investigating the electronic and spin-orbit properties of bilayer graphene encapsulated by hexagonal boron nitride (hBN). Our latest results have been published in Phys. Rev. B 108, 125126 (2023). |
Together with the experimental group of Prof. Dr. Christoph Strunk/Dr. Nicola Paradiso at UR, we are studying the supercurrent diode effect in Josephson junctions integrated into the two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) of shallow InAs quantum wells. Our latest results have been published in Phys. Rev. B 108, 054522 (2023), Nat. Nanotechnol. 18, 1266 (2023), and in the arXiv preprint arXiv:2308.01061. |
