Sabine Slowik is a research assistant at the Professorship for Digital Cultures and Communication for the interdisciplinary German-British project “StoryMachine: Exploring Implications of Recommender Based Spatial Hypertext Systems for Folklore and the Humanities”, which is generously funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) to develop a digital interactive platform for preserving, exploring and providing access to folklore.?
She completed a Bachelor's degree in Japanese Studies at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universit?t München, followed by a Master's degree in Comparative European Ethnology at the University of Regensburg. Her research, which is based on ethnographic and qualitative methods, has investigated the representation of history in digital games and the construction of urban identity through intangible cultural heritage. Since then, she has set her focus on the fields of Contemporary Folklore, Digital Humanities and Game Studies.
