Master's degree COSOM

The European Master "Complex Condensed Materials and Soft Matter" (COSOM) offers curricula in the areas of physical chemistry, inorganic and organic materials chemistry and analytical chemistry, and a foreign language module. In addition, a one-year, mandatory study abroad at one of the participating European partner universities (Versailles, Florence, Lille) is provided.

Physical Chemistry, inorganic and organic Chemistry of Matter, Analytical Chemistry, foreign language module in Regensburg
9.+10. Sem. Master's Thesis and Lectures in Versailles, Florence, Montpellier or Lille

The Master's program COSOM (Complex Condensed Materials and Soft Matter) contains five compulsory modules and two elective modules. In three compulsory modules chemistry and especially the physical chemistry of complex fluids and their interfaces are deepened. The special feature is the bridge between the scientific characterization of such systems using the latest research methods to the application of knowledge on product formulation, manufacturing and commercialization especially, but not only, in the area of budget and cosmetics. These three compulsory modules are completed with either oral final examinations or with a three-hour written examination.

The preparatory module for Master's Thesis contains courses on language and culture of the host country where the Master’s Thesis is completed: currently, France and Italy. The final module includes the extensive scientific Master’s Thesis in combination with seminars. This module has to be passed mandatory at a university participating in the Master's program abroad.

To give the master's graduates despite a certain specialization a maximum of broad chemical education, two elective modules from Inorganic, Organic or Bioanalytical chemistry have to be selected. These are completed with oral examinations. The overall grade of the Master’s degree is made up of the five graded module examinations and the grading of the thesis.
