After several years of practical experience including a middle management position in the automotive industry and subsequent postgraduate studies at the University of Trier, Germany, Ihar Sahakiants worked from 2008 to 2014 as a research assistant at the Chair for Human Resource Management and Intercultural Leadership headed by Prof. Marion Festing at the ESCP Business School Berlin. From 2009 to 2011, he also acted as an assistant to the European Dean of Research. Ihar Sahakiants received his PhD degree (German: Dr. rer. pol.) (summa cum laude) with a doctoral thesis titled “Compensation Systems in European Transition States: An Analysis of Path Dependence, Isomorphic Effects, and Agency-Based Determinants“ at the ESCP Business School. Since 2015, he has been holding the position of Professor of International Human Resource Management at the CBS International Business School in Cologne, Germany.
The research projects of Ihar Sahakiants include academic and practitioner-oriented topics such as international and executive compensation, digitalization of expatriate assignments, continuity and adoption of organizational practices, corporate governance and human resource management as well as socially responsible human resource management practices and reporting.
