Profile

Logistics and controlling are two cross-section disciplines, whose importance in theory and practise is constantly increasing. The chair covers both domains, but the emphasis is put on logistics. The course deals with the design of logistic systems in the bachelor and master programs. This consequently takes place on basis of systems theory. The aim of the education, systems design, is complemented by lectures and intensive exercise courses based on case studies concerning the use of software in logistics, logistic controlling as well as in specific questions concerning the decision support in logistics. The orientation of the offered programme is international and multi-lingual not only in its conent but also in its realisation. Furthermore, in each term lectures are given by external lecturers disposing of practical experience in logistics and controlling

Teaching Goals

The course with its emphasis on "industrial controlling and logistics" prepares the students on their job as controller, logistician, supply chain manager or management consultant in primarily three branches:

  • Industrial enterprises with an emphasis on discrete industry (e. g. automotive industry, high tech, consumer goods),
  • commercial enterprises with an emphasis on discrete goods (e. g. food, white goods, other consumer goods), and
  • logistic service providers

Short Biography

Dr. Andreas Otto is full professor for business administration at University of Regensburg where he teaches classes on logistics and supply chain management, management accounting (controlling) and decision support in logistics. Prior to this Dr. Otto served as product manager for "Order Fulfillment" within the global business unit Suppy Chain Management at SAP AG, Walldorf, Germany. Prior to this, he served as associate professor at university of Nuremberg, Germany from 1997 to mid of 2000. From 1994 to mid of 1997 he has been with the Dachser Corporation in Munich, Germany, where he served as head of corporate controlling. Dr. Otto received a doctor of business administration and a professorial dissertation from the university of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany.
