  • Wichtige Informationen: We are working on flowering plant gamete formation, male-female gamete interactions and the establishment of cell polarity.

Plant Reproduction and Cell Polarity Group – Sprunck lab

Our research aims to contribute to the understanding of the molecular mechanisms that are essential for the establishment and maintenance of cell polarity and for the development and function of gametes in plants.

We are currently investigating the function of proteins or protein families that are

- important for the direct interaction and fusion of male and female gametes and other cellular processes required for double fertilization of flowering plants

- involved in the regulation of Rho-GTPase-mediated cell polarity

- involved in the regulation of plant reproduction by interacting with microRNAs and other small non-coding RNAs.

The Sprunck lab is part of the collaborative Research Unit ICIPS, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), where we study the evolutionary history and function of a set of small secreted cysteine-rich proteins.

In recent years, our research has been financially supported by the German Research Foundation (DFG) as part of projects in the Collaborative Research Centers SFB924 and SFB960.
